Artist statement
I am a recent graduate of graphic and interactive design. I have always been interested in art and design. As a child I would look at VHS movie covers for hours in the video store. They always really inspired me. After leaving the Navy I always wanted to learn how to create my own art and designs. I really wanted an outlet for all the ideas I had. Being able to come back to school and learn how to become a graphic designer has been a wonderful experience. I am heavily influenced by anything retro, I love the Global Village Coffeehouse aesthetic and Andy Warhol prints are some of my favorites. My style is reflective of these influences where my work evokes the pop culture style and I utilize bright and bold colors to my work.
Learning the process of design has been an eye-opening experience. The research that goes into the design process is incredible. Everything we touch has graphic design, design makes the world move and I always appreciate how a design can make you feel. Some designs are so captivating and this always makes me want to be a better designer.
